Bay Island is in the middle of tourist season, and things have been busy at Cass Donovan’s shop, Mystical Musings. She’s getting ready to do her regular Friday night reading, but she feels there is something wrong. The reading is a disaster. She’s heckled constantly by a man, who later turns up dead in the trunk of a car.
Her friend, Emmett is arrested for the man’s murder. He and the dead man had gotten into an argument at the reading, and the body was discovered in front of Emmett’s garage. Cass knows Emmett is innocent, but the evidence says otherwise. And there’s a voice that she keeps hearing, asking her to help him.
Things are further complicated when a man threatens to get even with Cass because she ruined his life twenty years ago. A second man, who had been at the reading, also threatens her. And a third man, who was involved in an earlier crime and has an active warrant, may be back in town. Is there anyone in town who likes her right now?
When a woman comes into the shop for a reading, and later turns up dead, Cass and her friends start to investigate further, and discover something that threatens the life of someone near and dear to them. If they can’t figure things out in time, it could kill one of them.
This is the fourth in Lena Gregory’s Bay Island Psychic series, and the first one I have read. I enjoyed this book tremendously. It was very interesting to watch Cass’ powers change and become stronger. Well-written, captivating, Spirited Away will keep you on the edge of your seat until the heart-stopping and thrilling conclusion. I plan to go back and read the other three books in the series, and I look forward to the fifth one.
