A Crafter Hooks a Killer by Holly Quinn
Samantha Kane is looking forward to hosting the Queen of Crafts, Jane Johnson, at her story, Community Craft. Jane will be there to meet fans and autograph her latest book, but she also wants to interview Sammy for her next book. The whole town is humming with excitement, and when she shows up unexpectedly at Community Craft, people rush to the store for a chance to see the author.
When Sammy notices Jane seems overwhelmed by everyone crowding in, she suggests that Jane wait for her near the waterfall. Jane hints that she has something to tell Sammy about Kate Allen, the previous owner of Community Craft and Sammy’s best friend. But when Sammy finally breaks away, she arrives at their rendezvous to find Jane dead, holding her latest book, where someone has written, “THE END”.
Once again, Sammy is knee deep in a murder investigation, and she quickly butts heads with Detective Liam Nash. Sammie and the S.H.E’s (her sister, Ellie, and her cousin, Heidi), decide to see what dirt they can dig up. But things take a strange turn when it seems that Jane’s murder may be connected to Kate’s accidental death a few years before. Why did Jane have something that belonged to Kate? Could it be that Kate’s death wasn’t an accident after all?
The arrival of her parents from Arizona doesn’t help anything. Her mother is worried about Sammy sticking her nose into things that don’t concern her. She thinks Sammy should settle down like Ellie, and what a coincidence: the boy that Sammy had a crush on growing up has returned home. She would rather go out with the dashing detective, but he is too busy reminding her to stay out of his investigation.
As the pieces start to fall into place, Sammy quickly learns that things are not what they seem, and she’ll have to move quickly to stop the murderer. But will her impulsiveness put her in the killer’s crosshairs?
A Crafter Hooks a Killer by Holly Quinn is the second in this series, it was excellent. The characters are well-written, the action is not too fast, and the clues lead you to one conclusion, but end up in a different direction. I love it when a book does that! I will definitely be keeping an eye on Ms. Quinn for more in this series, as well as reading the first one. Highly enjoyable and very engaging!
